Ways to intake CBD....

January 3, 2019

How Can I Take My CBD?

There are so many ways of intaking CBD products such as Ingesting, Sublingual, inhalation and/or topically. Your way of taking your CBD will depend on your personal preference and what kind of symptom you’re trying to relieve. Let’s go into some detail on each way!

This means to eat/consume. Why would someone want to eat it? If someone were to ingest their CBD, it would create a longer, lasting effect. The reason CBD would last longer is because the CBD oil is digested and processed very slowly. Another reason is that it is very beneficial for someone who has full body pains. This includes but not limited to arthritis, fibromyalgia and neuropathic pains. This is because the body is again, slowly processing so the effects of the CBD will hit every part of the body. This method is a great option for someone who is looking for long-term effects and/or widespread pain relief.

This means to intake under the tongue. What someone would do is to put a couple of droplets under their tongue (or how much they need), have it rest for 1 – 2 minutes and then ingest. Why would someone do that? The reason is to gain long lasting effects with a quicker response time. While the CBD is under the tongue, it is being absorbed directly into the capillaries. Usually any CBD ingested must pass the liver first to be metabolized, but when taking the CBD sublingually it will bypass that process until the CBD reaches the gastrointestinal tract. Tinctures are common products that are taken sublingually. Many are made with an alcohol base, but many other bases such as coconut oil and glycerol are utilized as an alternative.

This means to apply directly onto a part of the body. Why would someone want to use this method? This is primarily used for relieving localized pains such as joint, muscle and skin pain. Products that can be applied this way would be considered lotions, salves, balms and transdermal patches. CBD lotions, salves and balms are a great option for someone who has chronic pain located in the wrists, knees, hands, feet, elbows and/or other joints where the transdermal patch would not fit, stick or stay properly. The CBD transdermal patches are available for someone who would like to maintain a stable amount of CBD in their system. The patch slowly and constantly delivers CBD to the area which will sustain long-lasting relief.

This means to inhale/breathe and/or smoke. CBD can be inhaled through vaping CBD oil or combusting the CBD flower with a smoking apparatus. Why would someone want to inhale the CBD? The most common reason why someone would inhale the CBD is to obtain the quickest effect from their CBD. This is because CBD is being absorbed directly into the bloodstream via the alveoli in our lungs. When this happens, the CBD is quickly pushed through the bloodstream to the brain and the body. Using the whole plant or vaporizing the oil significantly reduces the carcinogen intake due to it not combusting. The method is an option for someone who would rather vape than smoke while also achieving the same effectiveness. That being said, there is still not enough research on vaping to see the long-term effects of it. Just like smoking, vaping has also been shown to irritate the lungs and may have some unknown health risks associated with it.
