This is a clinical case study demonstrating beneficial effects of topical isolate Cannabidiol (CBD) lotion therapy for an inflammatory skin process of eczema.

Eczema is the name for a group of conditions that cause the skin to become itchy, inflamed, or have a rash-like appearance. There are seven types of eczema: atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, dyshidrotic eczema, nummular eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, and stasis dermatitis. Eczema is very common. In fact, over 31 million Americans have some form of eczema. Eczema can begin during childhood, adolescence, or adulthood and it can range from mild to severe. Eczema is usually itchy. For the many affected, the itch can range from mild to moderate. But in some cases, it can become much worse and might develop extremely inflamed skin. Sometimes the itch gets so bad that people scratch it until it bleeds which can make the eczema worse. Symptoms of eczema include itchy dry sensitive skin that is inflamed and discolored. The affected skin can be rough, leathery with/without scaly patches of skin. The skin can also become swollen.

This clinical case study is a women patient with an age in the fourth decade who reached out to BAK 2 Basics Medical CBD about an alternative treatment of her eczema with CBD medications. This consultation occurred due to her difficulty to find a long term beneficial treatment for her chronic inflammatory skin symptoms. She has a history of eczema for the last 10-15 years. Multiple physician appointments with different modalities of prescription and over-the-counter oral/topical treatments resulted with minimal success. The patient was frustrated due to the minimal improvement or resolution of the inflammatory skin process with any of her past physician instructed anti-inflammatory therapies.

After consultation with BAK 2 Basics CBD Medical Consultants, the initial therapy prescribed by BAK 2 Basics CBD was to start with topical CBD treatment since it is the least expensive and the easiest application of a CBD treatment. Oral CBD medications with CBD oil and CBD capsules are primarily initiated with more acute severe inflammatory symptoms. CBD Pain Quench cream topical therapy was recommended since its main ingredients of hemp extracted CBD, water, petroleum and lanolin allow great inflammatory benefit with the least chance of adverse effects with its pure manufactured form.

Prior to initiating any CBD therapy, eczema found on the upper chest was documented with photo as seen below.

Isolate CBD topical treatment was initiated with Pain Quench CBD cream daily. Application was done with a thin layer of CBD cream applied to all the affected inflamed skin locations. Applications were done daily. No other additional oral medication or dressing/covering to CBD cream application was done.

Photo below shows resolution of the acute eczema after only 3 days of daily therapy with topical CBD therapy with Pain Quench CBD cream.

Currently, this female patient applies daily topical therapy with CBD Pain Quench cream for preventive eczema treatment. There have been no recurrent eczema symptoms since the institution of the daily application of CBD topical cream.

This clinical case study demonstrates CBD topical treatment as a potential therapeutic and preventive treatment for inflammatory skin disorders. Another clinical study from 2019 also showed topical CBD ointments as a successful treatment for inflammatory skin disorders (atopic dermatitis, psoriasis) and also non-inflammatory skin issues (cutaneous blemishes, acne scars).

BAK 2 Basics CBD Medical Consultants want to thank this patient for allowing us to document her success story of the benefits of CBD for eczema treatment with photographs and history documentation.
